Dwarfs

I got the lot of these monopose dwarfs new in box years ago and with the changes to the Generals Handbook, taking a brick of 40 dwarfs is almost feasible, so I painted these up as a batch... that's right, a batch of 39...

I painted these up in the same fashion as my earlier dwarfs, so basecoat, wash, done. I added a little more highlights than previously, and used a brush on wash instead of the Army Painter dip.

Oldhammer Day 2016 Mini

I was lucky to obtain this mini and had a blast painting the little punk up.

40k Leman Russ Wreck

I've been wanting to do something like this for a long, long time. So one day randomly, I decided to do it.

I had an old Russ around that I'd gotten assembled and primed. So I chopped it in half and stuck it on piece of masonite.

Some Citadel crackle paint, some drybrushing and some rust effects later and we have this gem. Super happy with how it came out.

Khorne Rhino

The advent of 8th edition made it clear that foot troops without a ride is not a great idea. So, what better than to equip a pack of loony-bin murderers with an APC!

So hefty conversion work went into this, with the front plate from a Hellcannon being grafted into the front of the rhino.

The giant Khorne icon on the front is from the Bloodletter standard, which also gave up its skulls for the back. Berzerker icons grace the side doors.

Black Legion Predator

I painted this in my blitz to the launch of 8th edition. Great fun to bring this to life and upping my freehand game too.

This is a great range of minis created by Jon Boyce in the UK. Here's the variety that I have painted to date.

They're a joy to paint, and I love the faces the sculptor did.

Abaddon the Despoiler

Finally got around to taking half-decent pictures of this lad.

Fun to paint him up to match his bodyguard and actually got him ready for the launch of 8th edition..... remember that?

Black Legion Terminators

Soon to be Abaddon's body guard, these 5 were painted up recently to match my existing 2nd ed style Black Legion marines. Fun to paint, with loads of weird details.

World Eater Tactical Squad

What the what?!? you might say... Well... Years back, I managed to purchase an unreleased Khorne Berzerker sculpt. The mini was just the body and head. Sometime later I purchased a copy of Jes Goodwin's sketch book. Within that amazing tome is this image.

That's right. A Khorne Berzerker with a Heavy Plasma Gun... Needless to say, I had to do it. And I had just the mini for it. He's joined by 7 friends (HOLY NUMBERS) made from the weird release of bolter-carrying World Eaters. I love these models. Lead of course, by the OG Khorne Berzerker.

Completed RT Thousand Sons Squad

I've actually had these blighters finished up for a few weeks, just been lazy in getting a group shot of them. Very happy with how they turned out, and should be fun to get them on the table once 8th arrives.

Thousand Sons Sorcerer

I realized once I started painting this guy up, that there aren't many examples from the GW studio of this range of sorcerers painted from the mid-nineties. So I have to make it up. I used the same color-palette as the troops. Fun mini to paint, interesting little details all over.

Rogue Trader Thousand Sons

Finally got around to painting some of these guys up. I primed them something like 4 years ago. I have another 4 to paint and a sorcerer to make a squad of 9, HOLY NUMBERS!!!! They were a little draining to paint, the blue taking a long time to basecoat, but once I got over that hump, they were kinda fun to finish up.

New Assassins

I painted these up near the middle of last year. Quick, functional paintwork, to go with my Imperial Fists.

2nd Edition Eldar Howling Banshees

LANGUISH NO LONGER. These too have sat on the painting desk for more years than I care to admit. They mostly mirror the studio paint that is found in the Eldar codex. Glad to get them done.

2nd Edition Cadians

MORE MEAT FOR THE MEAT GRINDER! I've had these troopers sitting around started for something like 4-5 years, so I finally sat down and painted them up. It was interesting to see how my painting has improved since I painted the last squad, but these guys blend in well enough. I still need to dig up a couple comms troopers, another sergeant, and a lieutenant to make a platoon, but they're getting there.

Imperial Guard Priest

INSPIRATIONAL POST!!!! I pulled this guy out of a case and painted him up over the weekend. Fun sculpt to paint and it came together quickly.

Inquisitor and his Guncutter

When GW dropped the Deathwatch I was mega-impressed with the new marines, and especially the Watch Captain. Not intending to start a Deathwatch army, but wanting to paint that fig, I decided to make him an Inquisitor. A shoulderpad and head swap and a fancy new paint scheme and away we went. I went with something flamboyant, befitting an agent of the Emperor. All the better for the heretics to see their doom... Fiery Orange blended to Blood Red over a white basecoat. Ice blue blended to Regal Blue and loads of other details. I tried to avoid washes with him, and the only place I used them was on his face, to get a nice scruffy appearance. And... to go with him? A modified Valkyrie. Think of the guncutter from the Eisenhorn trilogy, that's where I was going with it. I added some extra sensors from and Ad Mech kit and a Landspeeder, extra searchlights, and swapped the lascannon int he hull from a heavy stubber in the nose.

Rogue Trader Predator

I've had this thing half completed for the past few years, so on to the painting table and into the display cabinet... Now my RT marines have some backup.
