Just finished up the last 5 groups for my platoon of RT guardsmen, which leads me into the wrap up.

All in all, an excellently productive year. My local gaming group, this past year we kept a google doc tracking our progress with painting and assembly. It's a pretty cool thing to see and its great for motivation.

Well, many weekends later, I found some time to work on these guys.

Quick highlights of skin, blue and on the slayers orange, bring these guys beyond a simple dip job.

I'm fairly pleased with them, sure I could do better, but, they're painted and don't look half bad.

With an upcoming tournament, it's time to ready the Dread Mob. First up are these lovely Forgeworld Grot tanks. These were salt weathered like the Stompa and Kill Krusha and then with layers of paint and a few extra colors they're almost there. A few weathering powders and the kommanda painted and this unit will be ready to go. Not bad for a nights work.

The club I'm a apart of, Dorkamorka held a 20 man tournament yesterday, in conjunction with a Painting Competition, called the "Golden Squig". 18 of the 20 tournament entrants also entered the painting competition, so we had a great turn out for both.

I'm running our clubs league this fall. I'm trying to steer a way from having the entrants play 6 random games and then a final and yay prizes.

I've devised a narrative campaign with linked games. The outcome of each game affects the next battle in some way.

Finally got around to getting some paint on my APOC stuff.

Tried out the salt weathering technique and I'm really happy with it. What you're seeing is freshly washed, so nothing but a rusty base and a color of=ver the top.

And here is a sequence showing the back, with each layer removed to show how I handle the interior so far.

It's going to need a load of washes and details, but this is a super fast and great looking base.

I got 47 gangers and related Necromunda figs assembled today. Goliaths, Delaques, Cawdor, Orlocks, Bounty Hunters, Scum, Spryers and Van Saars. Models for all of those gangs. And a couple Ripper Jacks and a Beastmaster too.

Nork Deddog Conversion

A second edition based Nork Deddog conversion.

I built off a very old Fantasy Ogre, with an armoured coat of Hellhound armor plates and and ogryn's ripper gun arm. Then I added a 2nd edition commissar's hat and scuulpted epaulets on top of his shoulders. I also sculpted boots over his bare feet.

Camo pants are painted up to match the camo pattern I'm using on my Cadians.

So a while back I started picking up the old terrain sets. Cause they're awesome.

A while after that talking with a friend, we discussed the idea of replacing the cardboard with styrene, and on top of that, cutting out each layer of detail to make them more 3D. So, after some thought, and me finding a lasercutter on etsy, I took the base kit from...

Plague Marine Test

Painted up a test model for the 40+ plague marines I have.

I'm looking to do these like my Orks and Marines, and paint them in the style of the "red period".

Needless to say, this isn't quite it.

It's too gritty, too dark, not clean enough. Weird I know to be talking of Nurgle and say it needs to be clean, but considering the painting styles of 1990-1997, yea, it was important. Bright clean color is what I need. I'll try again.

First up is my 2nd edition Bad Moon Dread. Turns out, I never finished this guy, so in addition to adding the necessary Bad Moon-iness, I was able to finish it up once and for all.

Idea for the black flames came from a piece of art in an ancient White Dwarf.

Next are 2 Ork Raiders from long, long ago.

These were a joy to paint up, nice and easy with simple blending and a limited color palette.

I started this scratch build about 2 years ago and lost direction on it, which is why it sat. I recently pulled it out and started work in ernest.

Here is where I've gotten to over the past few days.

Pilot is from the Ork Trukk kit, turret is from the Stompa, and the rest in plasticard, witht he main body being formed around tape spools.

Back, with new stuff, of all kinds

Hey guys, been a long time, but I have been busy.

Finished my friends demon army, which will be showing up here soon.

But for now, here is a mixed bag of projects that have shown up recently.

First, Rogue Trader Marines, these are the 1st 4 I have finished, with a ton more to come.

Next up, a dreadnought I started a few years ago as a command dread for a dread mob. He has a KFF built into his body, but I will be using in the FW Dread mob list.

And to go along with him, 3 killa kans, built with grotzookas from Irondog. Sweet little weapons and they fit very nicely with the old style kans.

And to lead the 2 mobs of spanna boys, 2 new meks, one with a KMB and the other with a burna. Both have heads pulled from the stompa sprues.

The mek with the KMB has a big shoota boy backpack, with a custom banner pole with the old gorkamorka buggy banner top.

And the Mek with Burna.

I also picked a Kill Blasta, and while I wait for a few parts to show up and worked on the kommanda and gave him feet, so I can use him in the tank, or out. Feet are from an AoBR nob and one the the regular plastic nobs.

And to top it all off, a Meka Dread. I built and painted a Mega Dread a while back, so when FW released this guy, I knew I needed to get one. Its an awesome kit, so much detail all over, and it goes together quite nicely.

And to end this with a very random thing, an Eldar Scout Walker. I saw one of these pop up on dakka, and new I needed to find out how to make one. I found out that Citadel Journal #8 contained the instructions and rules (for 2nd edition) for them. So after a few days of searching the internet I found a copy of it and when it arrived I set about making it. And it's pretty awesome.

FW Grot Tanks

These little models are great, tons of parts and sweet detail. Wish they came with more weapon options, or at least duplicates of tasty nibblets like the grotzooka and rokkit launcha. I'll be magnetizing each weapon option in case I can find spares or if I make up new ones.

A friend and I are starting up a gorkamorka campaign. We each have 2 mobs and will mix and match games with them.

So a friend of mine asked me to paint up a Khorne/Tzeentch Daemon force for him, and while I'm working very slowly, here's some stuff I've been working on.

It's 2 Soul Grinders! One for Khorne and one for Tzeentch.

Tzeentch first. As you can see, a bunch of work reposing this guy, shifting the body forward, changing arms and their position, adding those cute little mandibles and a few other things.

And the Grinder of Khorne. Less modifications here, just a slight opening of his arms, and a positioning to make him look like he's about to smash something.
